Class

Here you can learn what to expect, and what is expected of you, at a typical Class in Our Club. The actual content worked on during class will differ from day to day but the rules, behaviour, and routine are always the same.

 - Children's class begins at 6:00 pm, Adults at 7:00 pm. BE ON TIME. It is a good idea to arrive 10 minutes before your class begins to allow yourself time to change, stretch, and prepare for class. If you arrive late change, stretch quietly at the back of the Dojo, and then kneel and wait for Sensei to invite you into the group. Never think that the Sensei hasn't seen you. They have. They may invite you into the group right away, they may make you wait. It is always best to be on time.

      * stretching before class will increase your flexibility, warm muscles, and help prevent injury. It is also a good idea to include daily stretching into your routine at home. As much as stretching will help with your Martial Arts training it can also help prevent injuries in our daily lives. Click here to see simple stretching routines that you can do at home and in the Dojo.

 - Every Class Begins with a Bow In.

- After the Bow In the class will start with a warm up lead by the Sensei or whom ever the Sensei dictates.

- class will then begin Training. What will be taught during a class is Decided by the Instructor. There is no "must follow" plan. Each class will be a bit different from the next. Listen, pay attention to instructions, and follow along. If you are lost on a technique try and follow along with a higher ranked student. Quick questions can be asked in class but expansive questions should be held for after class when the Sensei can answer your question without using up the classes training time. Most classes will consist of : Kihon (basics), Kata, and Kumite (sparring) in some form or another.

- every Class ends with a Bow Out. After the Bow out is completed any Club Information that needs to be passed on or notes that need to be passed out will be done at this time. After class is dismissed you may ask the Sensei's any questions you may have or for help with anything that is troubling you.

The most important thing to remember is to try your best and have fun. Before and after class is a great time to ask any question or for any assistance. If the Sensei is not available to help you feel free to ask one of your Higher ranking Dojo mates. They will be happy to help you as best they can.
