Welcome to Northern Alberta Shotokan Karate.  Here on this page you will find information about our Club, Sensei’s, class schedules, prices, location, contacts and more. Our site is updated weekly so come back and check often to see what we’re up too.

 

 

 

Our Club:

 Northern Alberta Shotokan Karate (formerly the 4 Wing Shotokan Karate Club) has been running for more than 22 years. You can currently find our Dojo at the Mackenzie School gym, on 4 Wing Cold Lake, in beautiful Cold Lake, Alberta.  Our Club is open to Military personnel and Civilians, Adults and Children.  Twice a year Sensei David Jones visits our Club to Run Seminars and Gradings. The Club goes all year round (except for holidays and school functions) so come and see us any time.

 

*The club will be moving to it's new Downtown Location in the summer of 2007. Visit back closer to June to see the Address of our new location.

 

Classes:

We offer Classes for both Children and Adults. Adults are welcome to participate in either/both classes. We have several families that participate together in the Children’s class.

Classes run Monday and Wednesday evenings, and Sunday afternoons as follows:

 Children’s Class (all belts):  6pm -7 pm

Adult Class (white to Orange belt): 7pm – 8pm   *All ranks may attend this class

Adult Class (green to Black belt): 8pm – 9pm     *Only stated ranks may attend this class

All Belts advanced Class: Sundays 1pm – 2:30pm

 

 * Our classes are mixed gender. We don’t run “women only” classes. As women it is to our advantage to practice with opponents of all shapes and sizes, male and female. Several of our Ladies even participate in competition. Check out our “News” page to see what medals our members have brought home from recent Competition. So, if you’re a Mom sitting on the bench waiting for your child to be done class, why not join in. We can’t let the Boys have all the fun!

Our Instructor is Sensei Robert Westbrook, Nidan.

 

Cost:

Individual $25.00/mo

Family $40.00/mo

Once a year federation dues $20.00

Testing and Seminar $30.00 approx

Uniform (Gi) $22-$80 depending on size and quality: see our “Kit shop” link for more details on clothing and equipment.

 

Trial membership:

One free month for all new members.

 

What to wear:

Sweat pants and a loose fitting t-shirt, bare feet.  No shorts, muscle shirts or jewelry.  Earrings must be removed or taped over.
